Program Overview

Financial and societal shifts in planning (including estate tax changes and demographic trends) have caused estate planning to be a part more and more of the overall retirement planning process. This session explores the reasons for this shift and its exceptions, and then offers tangible ways professional advisors can integrate estate planning into retirement planning for their clients. 

The impact of the recently passed SECURE Act on your client's retirement plans will also be addressed.

  • Consider the ramifications and challenges of these trends to professional advisors from a planning standpoint

Featured Speaker:

Steve Parrish, JD, RICP, CLU, ChFC, AEP  is the Co-Director of the New York Life Center for Retirement Income at The American College of Financial Services, where he also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Advanced Planning.  He is also an Adjunct Professor of Estate Planning at Drake University Law School. With 40 years’ experience as an attorney and financial planner, Parrish frequently addresses the challenges of individuals, business owners and executives nationwide. Parrish is an expert on retirement, estate, and business owner succession planning. He is a recognized industry authority, spokesperson and author serving as an ongoing columnist for both and the Journal of Financial Service Professionals.  Parrish has served as an expert source for such prominent media outlets as InvestmentNews, MarketWatch, Wall Street Journal Radio, USN&WR, HR Magazine, and the Journal of Financial Planning. He is also an Associate Editor of the Journal of Financial Service Professionals. In addition, he is a sought-after speaker with bar associations, estate planning councils and state AICPA meetings.  He has addressed such financial service organizations as MDRT, Association for Advanced Life Underwriting, INC 5000, and Society of Financial Service Professionals.  Parrish also addresses numerous business organizations nationwide.
