Program Overview

This session will address various trust, charitable giving and estate planning designs that may seem common, but lack certain provisions that actually make them work.  We will share why certain designs may actually hurt your clients’ overall estate planning, even though they seemed so perfect when drawn up.

Attendees will learn:

  • How jointly held property can create potential gift tax and federal estate tax issues

  • How improperly arranged life insurance can derail even the best of plans

  • The advantages and disadvantages of making gifts outright or in trust to loved ones

  • Why the choice of executor and trustee of an estate plan could be one of the most important decisions a client makes

  • Choice of asset matters with charitable bequests
