Within forums, you have two levels of subscription options:

A. Forum Level: be notified when new topics are added to the forum
B. Topic Level: be notified when new comments are made to a specific topic.

You will need to subscribe to each level separately. Here are the steps to do this.

1. Navigate to your Forums page. If you are still testing and haven't made it public yet, you can get there by going to http://yourdomain.org/forums or http://yourdomain.com/forums. This will take you to a list of all Forums you have created.

2. Click on the name of a Forum. This will pull up a list of all of the topics created within this forum.

3. To subscribe to the Forum Level, select the Forum Actions button and select "Subscribe to Instant Updates." You will be notified when new topics are added to the forum.

4. To subscribe to the Topic Level, click on the name of a topic. Select the Thread Actions button and select "Subscribe to Instant Updates." You will be notified when new comments are added to this topic. Repeat for all topics as desired.

Forum Digest

In step 3, members also have the option to subscribe to the Forum Digest. This is a newsletter that you can setup to be sent out periodically to those who subscribe to the Forum Digest. The digest only includes information about new topics created within the forum.

To enable the Forum Digest and configure how frequently it is distributed, from the backend of the site click on the Directory & CRM Menu Tab. Within the Left Rail Menu select the Email & Newsletters Section and click on "Newsletters." Select the pencil icon for Forum Digest.

The Delivery Interval is used to configure how often the Forum Digest newsletter is sent. The more frequent the updates to your forum, the smaller interval you may want to use. If you do not want members to be able to subscribe to the Forum Digest, you can toggle Enabled to No.

If you make any changes on this page, please select Save at the bottom.

Default Subscription Settings

Members cannot be subscribed to forums by default. Since this can result in them receiving several emails, this is completely voluntary and everyone must manually subscribe according to their own preferences.
